Monroe opens direct lending strategy to wealth channel via ETN
Monroe Capital has launched an exchange traded note (ETN) linked to its lower middle-market direct lending strategy, giving wealth investors access to the mandate.
Wealth managers, private banks and family offices can now access the direct lending strategy through a single listed security, which is designed to fit the brokerage and custody channels they already use.
The note carries a daily price and a standard ISIN, meaning subscriptions, transfers and portfolio reporting follow the same process as any listed holding. That removes the subscription documents, capital calls and bespoke reporting that typically accompany private credit allocations, Monroe said.

The strategy is invested primarily in senior secured loans to US lower middle-market companies and has previously been available to Monroe’s institutional investors.
The note was developed with PM Alpha, a digital private markets platform, which provided the structuring framework and platform technology, and EBW Capital, which will lead distribution across Latin America and the US offshore market through its network of wealth management institutions.
“Demand for private credit from international wealth channels has outpaced the infrastructure available to serve it,” said Zia Uddin, president of Monroe Capital. “Working with PM Alpha and EBW Capital, we can deliver the same lower middle-market direct lending strategy our institutional investors have accessed for two decades, in a format that fits the way private banks and family offices already operate.”

Tom Douie, chief executive of PM Alpha, said the firm continued to see strong demand from private banks, family offices and wealth managers for private credit strategies in a format that integrates with existing investment administration rails.
“The ETN structure provides that bridge, combining institutional investment exposure with the simplicity and convenience of a listed security, that is already accessed by more than 200 wealth and asset managers globally,” he added.
The note is issued by PM Alpha Designated Activity Company, denominated in US dollars and listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange. It is available now through PM Alpha with a minimum investment of $50,000 and $15,000 thereafter, the firms said. It is not offered in the US or to US persons.
Monroe Capital is a Chicago-headquartered asset manager specialising in private credit across strategies including direct lending, technology finance, venture debt, alternative credit solutions, structured credit, real estate and equity.
The news comes as Alternative Credit Investor interviewed Monroe Capital’s Uddin earlier this year on the private credit environment amid macroeconomic volatility and uncertainty.
