California-based investment firm Faes & Co has made its first hire in London as it moves to establish a permanent presence in the UK and Europe.

Michael Tschirley has joined Faes & Co from LendInvest, a British non-bank lender, to establish a London presence for the firm and enable it to serve UK, European and offshore investors.

The firm added that it plans to establish a permanent office in London.

Faes & Co, an investment firm led by former LendInvest founder Christian Faes, was established in 2022. Since then, it has established its flagship US-focused Faes & Co Income Fund, which invests in real estate bridging loans secured by first-mortgage real estate across the US.

Tschirley’s appointment follows sustained interest in the Faes & Co Income Fund from investors in the UK and Europe, the firm said.

“Investors are increasingly looking for opportunities outside of the UK, and a lot of that capital is heading to the US,” said Faes. “Our proposition is straightforward: a fixed targeted return, backed by a conservative portfolio of loans, focused on lending against residential property across the US.

“With our Cayman Islands feeder fund, the structure is also particularly attractive for offshore investors.”
