Orix USA buys majority stake in Hilco Global
The US arm of Japanese investment firm Orix is acquiring a majority stake in Hilco Global to expand its middle-market focused private credit platform and launch an asset-based lending business.
Hilco – a diversified financial services firm headquartered in Chicago – will be given “substantial additional capital” to boost its growth trajectory in asset management, private credit, and advisory solutions.

Orix USA is committing $1bn (£732m) as part of the deal, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.
A new asset-based lending arm will combine Hilco Global’s expertise in and access to tangible and intangible assets with ORIX USA’s capital and lending capabilities, the statement said.
Hilco will operate as a subsidiary of Orix USA, and will be led by Jeffery B. Hecktman, executive chairman, chief executive and founder of Hilco.

The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
Orix USA specialises in private credit, real estate, and private equity solutions for middle-market focused borrowers and investors.
The firm and its subsidiaries have $89.8bn in assets.
