Bondora reopens Netherlands market
Bondora has reopened the Netherlands market after closing it for new originations shortly after launching in September 2022.
The European peer-to-peer lending platform launched in the Netherlands, issuing over €200,000 (£175,862.40) in loans in just the first week. However, it quickly closed it for new originations to evaluate next steps for the market.
At the time, the company said: “This is an essential step in our expansion plans to ensure we only scale markets that offer good-quality loan portfolios for our investors.”
The reopening of the Dutch market in January comes after Bondora had a bumper fourth quarter with total originations of €45.3m accounting for the highest of the year.
The platform said Finland finally surpassed Estonia as the market with largest share of originations, accounting for 46.9 per cent of originations by the end of the year.
Spain is also continuing to grow, with a share of 7.2% and origination well over €1m worth of loans every month since September.
