Bondora originations “skyrocketed” in December
Bondora’s loan originations “skyrocketed” by 14.2 per cent in December 2022, with approximately €16.1m (£14.2m) originated.
This represents the highest monthly origination figure for the European peer-to-peer lending platform for 2022.
1,500 new investors joined Bondora during the last month of the year. By the end of 2022, Bondora’s investors had earned more than €88m in returns on total investments of over €713m.
In an update to investors, Bondora said that Finland had the most significant increase in loan originations in December, climbing by 19.7 per cent, month-on-month. Estonian loan originations increased by 9.25 per cent, month-on-month, while Spain saw a two per cent decrease in originations.
Bondora added that the Netherlands loan market “is still temporarily closed, but we hope to re-open in [the first quarter of] 2023.”

“This is vital to ensure we only expand in markets that offer good-quality loan portfolios for our investors,” the platform added.
Following months of overall decreases, Bondora’s secondary market saw a “dramatic increase” of 86.3 per cent in December, with €150,287 transacted between investors.
“The largest jump came from portfolio manager transactions,” Bondora said. “They increased by 369.8 per cent. Manual transactions followed with a 114.5 per cent increase. And the API trailed with a solid 19.8 per cent increase.
“Manual transactions still make up the overwhelming majority, with €107,644’s worth of transactions.”
Finally, Bondora revealed that the recent sale of defaulted Estonian loans generated €1,437,597.
