Sancus promotes Gary Mealing to group credit director
Sancus has promoted Gary Mealing to group credit director, responsible for leading the alternative finance group’s credit function across all companies in the UK, Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar.
Mealing (pictured) previously held the role of credit director at the Aim-listed group for six years.
Prior to that, he worked at peer-to-peer lender Funding Knight as credit analyst and then head of property, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He has over 30 years’ commercial banking experience, lending money in both onshore and offshore environments, Sancus said.
“I will be sharing and supporting all jurisdictions with my decades of knowledge of credit and risk, as we continue to find the best finance solutions to support property professionals in what are likely to be challenging times ahead,” said Mealing.
“I’m incredibly proud to have been asked to become group credit director. We have an extremely professional, diverse team of people and I am convinced that puts us far ahead of our competitors in supplying certainty of delivery of funding to borrowers who require property development and bridging funding.”

Sancus chief Rory Mepham said he was delighted about Mealing’s promotion.
“As the business continues its growth trajectory, ensuring we have an experienced person leading the group credit function is essential, particularly in the current economic environment,” Mealing added. “Gary brings valuable, practical knowledge in this area and his accumulated experiences and skills are perfectly suited to this new position.”
This is the latest promotion at Sancus.
Earlier this month, Sancus named Richard Whitehouse as managing director of its UK business. Whitehouse has worked at Sancus since 2016, when he joined the company as a sales director. Less than a year after that he was promoted to the role of director. He has also acted as a non-executive director for one of the group’s investment companies.
