Funding Circle hires new CTO
Funding Circle has named Greig McEwan as its new chief technology officer (CTO) to lead the next stage of its expansion.
Most recently, McEwan (pictured) was CTO at digital freight-forwarder platform Sennder.
McEwan was previously CTO at bookmaker Paddy Power Betfair, responsible for its technology for both brands, operating in more than 100 countries.
Prior to that, he was director of technology at Betfair and director of digital technology at Ladbrokes, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The alternative business lending platform, which exited the peer-to-peer lending space earlier this year, said that McEwan is joining Funding Circle’s Global Leadership Team, reporting to chief executive Lisa Jacobs.
“I’m delighted to welcome Greig to the Funding Circle team,” said Jacobs. “Technology and data is the crux of everything we do, and our next phase of growth is all about building scale and transforming the business into a multi-product platform to help more small businesses get the funding they need to win. Having worked in fast-paced, customer-focused organisations, Greig brings a wealth of experience that will help us continue to innovate at pace and deliver a superior customer experience.”
McEwan added: “I’m excited to develop Funding Circle’s technology, building on the excellent foundations that have already been laid and taking it to the next level. Becoming a multi-product platform that serves a direct and embedded audience will drive meaningful business growth and help more small businesses not only borrow, but pay and spend as well.”
Funding Circle has had a busy few months. In September, it unveiled a funding partnership with Bayview Asset Management, and in August it debuted a new introducer service for its brokers.
Funding Circle’s pre-tax profits fell by 95 per cent £1.6m in the first half of 2022, after government-backed loan schemes in the UK and the US came to an end.
