Golub bets $5m on AI credit firm F2
Private credit manager Golub Capital has invested $5m (£3.8m) in F2, an artificial intelligence (AI) developer that specialises in credit.
As part of the partnership, Golub, which has more than $90bn of capital under management, will also use F2’s technology across its investment process.
The platform will draw on Golub’s own data to screen private credit investments, carry out due diligence, underwrite deals and monitor portfolios.
“Our partnership with F2 will enable us to embed our firm’s proprietary knowledge, accumulated experience and investment judgement into the systems that support how we invest and operate,” said David Golub, co-chief executive of Golub Capital.

The deal comes as private credit firms have increasingly adopted AI over the past year, although managers are using the technology in very different ways. The most common uses so far centre on making data analysis, risk management and trading more efficient.
Smaller firms in particular are turning to generative and agentic AI workflows, while larger firms have been slower to adopt the technology because of data and compliance concerns, according to research by Alternative Credit Investor.

The partnership will also establish the Global Credit AI Council, an invitation-only forum for senior executives from a small number of private markets firms, with David Golub as its inaugural chair.
The council will discuss emerging uses of AI and share views on how the industry is building the technology into its investment and operating processes.
