SVP appoints Goldman executive as president
US investment firm Strategic Value Partners (SVP) has appointed Goldman Sachs partner Matt Gibson as president, effective from February 2027.
Gibson leaves the American investment bank after more than 25 years, having held a series of senior leadership positions. Most recently, Gibson led the global client business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, overseeing a team of over 1,000 sales and product specialists across the institutional, wealth and insurance client distribution channels.

As president of SVP, Gibson will lead the firm’s non-investment activities, including client relations, firmwide infrastructure and drive longer-term strategic initiatives. He will also actively engage in deal sourcing across industry sectors, such as power and infrastructure, where he gained previous expertise.
He will sit on SVP’s management and investment committees and report to SVP founder and chief investment officer Victor Khosla.
“What attracted me to SVP is the quality of the platform they have built and the consistently strong results the team has generated over a long period of time,” Gibson said.

Meanwhile, Khosla commented: “Matt is an exceptional fit for where the firm is today and as we continue to meet the growing, complex demands of the business. Matt brings experience in leading and managing significant businesses at Goldman Sachs and advising many of the world’s top investors.”
SVP holds approximately $22bn (£16.3bn) in assets under management.
