Fortress expands private wealth business into EMEA and Japan
Fortress Investment Group has expanded its private wealth business into Japan and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
The private markets manager, with $55bn (£40.6bn) of assets, has appointed Yuko Umino as head of private wealth solutions for Japan and Harry Bush as head of private wealth solutions for EMEA.
In their new roles, Fortress said Umino and Bush will lead the international expansion of its credit, real estate and net lease investment products.
“As reforms and innovation are beginning to spur changes in how individuals invest their savings in Europe and Japan, we believe that now is a strong entry point for our business in these markets,” said Nils Wilson, global co-head of private wealth solutions.

Both Japan and Europe are underpenetrated markets for investment products, with cash and deposits accounting for about half of household wealth in Japan, about 40 per cent in Europe and less than 10 per cent in the US, according to Fortress.

Umino is based in Tokyo and joined Fortress in March 2026 from PIMCO Japan, where she was a senior vice-president in the Japan Global Wealth Management team.
Bush is based in London and joins from Nuveen, where he was most recently head of EMEA Strategic Accounts.
Both Umino and Bush will report to Adam Bobker and Wilson, global co-heads of private wealth solutions, the manager said.
“Through Yuko’s and Harry’s dedicated leadership in Tokyo and London, we will more quickly be able to bring Fortress’s investment capabilities to wealth investors beyond our existing focus markets of the USA and Latin America,” Wilson added.
