Runway appoints Michael Rovner as co-CEO and co-CIO

Rovner will share both titles with David Spreng, founder of Runway, which provides loans to venture-backed and non-venture-backed companies, primarily in the US and Canada.

Rovner joins the firm from BC Partners, which was acquired by Runway in January 2025. He served as a managing director at BC Partners following its 2023 acquisition of Ovation Partners, the asset-backed lending and growth capital business he co-founded and led as chief executive.
The firm said Rovner’s appointment comes as Runway broadens its financing platform for growth-stage companies and deepens alignment between Runway and BC Partners Credit.

“Mike is one of the most accomplished investors in growth lending, and he shares the credit-first discipline that has defined Runway since our founding,” said Spreng.
“He has spent three decades building and leading successful lending platforms, and he knows how to deliver creative capital solutions without compromising underwriting standards.”
