Carlyle appoints head of global credit as co-president
Investment firm Carlyle has announced a raft of senior appointments, including promoting head of global credit Mark Jenkins to become a co-president.
John Redett and Jeff Nedelman will also become co-presidents of the firm, while Michael Wand becomes head of EMEA investments and Justin Plouffe becomes chief financial officer. The appointments will become effective from 1 January 2026.

Jenkins joined Carlyle in 2016. He was previously senior managing director at CPPIB and led the global private investment group. He was also chair of the credit investment committee.
In his new role, he will lead Carlyle’s global credit and insurance businesses and work closely with the firm’s chief executive, Harvey Schwartz, to advance the firm’s strategic priorities and drive investment performance.

Plouffe, currently deputy chief investment officer for global credit at Carlyle, has considerable experience in private credit, including overseeing CLO new issuance, leading acquisitions of corporate credit management platforms, serving as a portfolio manager for structured credit investments, developing proprietary portfolio management analytics, and negotiating a range of financing facilities.
“These individuals, all Carlyle veterans, are proven leaders whose deep expertise and extensive experience will drive our next phase of growth,” said Schwartz.

Carlyle had $453bn (roughly £340bn) in assets under management as of the end of March 2025.
