Oaktree makes senior European hire
Oaktree Capital Management has bolstered its European business development team with a new Frankfurt-based hire.
Torben Dunkel has been appointed as the firm’s head of Germany and Austria, marketing and client relations, with responsibility for business development in the region. He will report to Peter Preisler, head of Europe and Africa, marketing and client relations at Oaktree.

Dunkel was previously head of Europe at Aviva Investors, where he led the sales team responsible for the Nordics, Germany, Austria, Benelux and Southern Europe. Prior to this, he served as an executive director for institutional sales at Robeco where he developed and diversified the German institutional business.

“Torben brings significant institutional experience to the role and his deep understanding of the German and Austrian markets and ability to foster long-term client relationships will be instrumental in driving growth and strengthening our presence in this important region.”
The appointment is the latest indication of Oaktree’s commitment to the European market.
Earlier this month, the firm appointed Cyril Martin as managing director and head of EMEA insurance solutions, with responsibility for developing and managing the insurance client base in EMEA and building insurance analytics globally.
