Legal & General promotes private markets CEO
Legal & General has promoted Laura Mason, chief executive of private markets, to head up the investment and insurance firm’s entire retail division.
Mason will take over the role in December, succeeding Bernie Hickman.
“Our retail businesses are foundational to L&G, reflecting our roots in insurance as well as being an important growth opportunity for the group as we expand our workplace retirement proposition,” said Mason.
“I’m delighted to be taking leadership of our talented team to deliver an exciting strategy that will see us deepen our support for customers throughout their lifetimes.”

Mason’s promotion was part of a reshuffling of L&G’s executive team. The firm has also announced the appointment of Katie Worgan as group chief operating officer, taking a new role on the group management committee.
Worgan is currently managing director and chief operating officer of consumer relationships at Lloyds Banking Group. She will join L&G early next year.
“We are making rapid progress on our vision for a growing, simpler, better-connected business,” said António Simões, chief executive, L&G.
