Weil boosts private credit expertise with new hire
Law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges has appointed Sophie Smith as a partner in London to expand its private funds practice.
Smith, who joins from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, specialises in primary fundraisings and advises managers on carried interest, co-investments and other incentive arrangements. She also has ESG expertise and advises on impact and growth investing.
“As the global private funds market consolidates, clients require increasingly sophisticated private capital advice,” said Weil’s executive partner Barry Wolf. “Sophie brings exceptional experience in fund formation, particularly in the primary credit funds space. Weil has been growing its private funds practice of late, having recently promoted Peter Boulle and Jacquelyn Volpe to partner.
