Law firm Akin adds private credit partner in New York
Akin has added Scott Colton as a partner in the law firm’s special situations and private credit practice in New York.
He joins from Paul Hastings, where he worked for many years with Bill Brady who joined Akin last month.
Colton’s practice focuses on advising direct lenders and private credit firms on complex finance transactions and credit arrangements, including financings that include multiple tranches of debt.

Colton regularly structures and negotiates a wide range of financing facilities, such as first-lien loans, second-lien loans, unitranche facilities, first-out/last-out facilities, senior stretch loans, junior capital and mezzanine facilities and various restructuring financings.

Colton is the latest addition to Akin’s premier special situations and private credit practice, including Ranesh Ramanathan in New York and Boston in October 2022, Catherine Goodall in New York in February 2023, Josh Peary in Boston in March 2023, Corinne Musa in New York in May 2023, Tarun Warriar in Hong Kong in May 2023, and Brady in New York in March.
