Federated Hermes appoints real estate debt lead
Federated Hermes has appointed Paul Robinson (pictured) as director of origination and structuring in its real estate debt team, as it continues to strengthen its property investment business.
Robinson previously led the underwriting teams at Trimont Real Estate Advisors and Hudson Advisors. Prior to this, he held roles within the commercial real estate businesses of banks including Lloyds.
In the newly-created role, Robinson will be responsible for sourcing new lending opportunities, and designing customised loan structures to help to deliver stable and consistent long-term income distributions.
He will report to Vincent Nobel, head of asset-based lending.

“We are at a favourable point in the economic cycles, with our clients actively seeking differentiated opportunities to access the strong, stable income streams generated by the real estate debt asset class,” said Nobel.
“Our strengths in origination and prudent underwriting underpin our real estate debt investment strategy, enabling us to build a diversified, defensive portfolio at attractive risk adjusted return levels for our clients.
“We are pleased to welcome Paul whose relevant experience will help us to further identify attractive investment opportunities and maintain our asset-focussed and successful underwriting approach.”

“I look forward to working with Vincent and the team to source relative value opportunities, underpinned by a differentiated lending approach to maximise the counter-cyclical opportunities offered by the prevailing market conditions,” added Robinson.
Federated Hermes launched its real estate debt business in 2015 with the aim of delivering “stable, uncorrelated, through-the-cycle returns from sustainable real estate assets, with a relative value approach to selecting opportunities, underpinned by an asset-focused and conservative underwriting.”
The division has been expanding in recent months. Last week, Mark Russell was named head of fund management (real estate), responsible for driving the strategy and performance delivery of the real estate business and its investments within the Federated Hermes Private Markets platform.
