PeerBerry denies new data leakage incident
PeerBerry has denied that its user data has been leaked, after rumours of a new cyber security attack circulated on social media.
The European peer-to-peer lending marketplace contacted investors to say that the leak rumours relate to an old security incident dating back to April 2020, which led to cybercriminals leaking data on some of PeerBerry’s customers on a hackers’ forum.

The breach was made public in December 2022, and PeerBerry said that it “took necessary actions immediately to protect the data of our investors.”
The new rumours of a data breach were aimed to “to harm PeerBerry’s reputation,” the platform said.
“We responsibly state that there was no new data leak on the platform,” said a PeerBerry spokesperson in a message to investors.

“Our IT and cyber security partners checked the data distributed by hackers; their date coincides with an old incident (April 2020), about which we informed the investor community and the data protection authority in PeerBerry’s jurisdiction.”
The platform added that investors should always stay cautious and critically assess publicly distributed information. It added that users should regularly change their passwords and use two factor authentication to ensure higher data protection.
