Lendino eyes EU expansion after winning Danish license
Danish crowdfunding platform Lendino has won a license from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority as it plans to move “beyond the country’s borders” in the future.
The license was a necessary step to ensure that the platform could continue its operations after 10 November, when the new EU-wide crowdfunding regulations become law.
However, Andreas Helgason Rex, co-founder and director of Lendino, said that while a Europe-wide expansion is in the company’s future, there are no plans for to move into other markets just yet.

“In the short term, it is the Danish market where we need to get an even better grip,” said Helgason Rex.
“But it is definitely the plan that at some point we have to look a little beyond the country’s borders.”
Lendino was founded in 2014 and since then it has brokered almost DKK196m (£22.5m) in loans.

Helgason Rex said that he found the new EU regulations difficult to navigate as the rules varied from country to country. However, he added that he hopes the regulations will make it easier for Lendino to acquire new investors.
“The new regulation is a highway in the EU, which makes it easier for us to go beyond the country’s borders in a more uniform way, because in future you will have a uniform set of regulations,” he added.
