5 great jobs that will pay you over £100k
As the cost-of-living continues to bite, every pound counts and salaries that were once considered lucrative aren’t stretching as far as they used to.
To give some perspective, those who earned £100,000 in 2013 were approximately £30,000 better off than those earning £100,000 today.
Couple this with the latest data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) which found that 93 per cent of British adults reported an increase in their cost of living in March 2023, and the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) detailing that real post-tax household income had the biggest fall in 2022-2023 since 1956.
While the finance sector continues to be one of the most lucrative industries in the UK economy, with unrelenting work schedules frequently rewarding workers with higher than average salaries, not all finance workers are remunerated equally.
Below we’re detailing five of the best-paying finance job titles in the UK – and the salary ranges they yield.
1. Chief Financial Officer
As a top-level executive, CFOs can expect to command a salary of up to £215,000 per year depending on the size and scale of the company or organisation they work for.
Salary range: £72,000 – £215,000
2. Quantitative Analyst
As data continues to inform investment opportunities, financial institutions are heavily relying on analysts to provide them with profitable insights while also minimising risk.

3. Equity Research Analyst
Do you have an in-depth knowledge of financial markets and the ability to provide detailed reports and recommendations about the viability of companies and stocks? A career in equity research could be the perfect match.

4. Portfolio Manager
In this client-facing role, portfolio managers use their knowledge of the markets to create a diversified investment plan and generate profit through a vast portfolio of investments.

In today’s market, actuaries have never been more valuable to financial institutions, particularly in the fields of funding, investment and banking.
