Crowdcube is 10! A history of its P2P fundraises
Crowdcube has reached its 10-year anniversary.
Since launching in February 2011, over one million lenders have invested more than £1bn in over 1,000 businesses on the platform.
The past year has been particularly busy for Crowdcube, having hosted fundraises for several peer-to-peer lending platforms, launched a secondary market for late-stage businesses and announced plans to merge with Seedrs.
Peer2Peer Finance News looks at some of the P2P platforms that have raised money on the equity crowdfunding platform over the years.
Propifi
In July 2018, property P2P lender Propifi launched a £250,000 crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.
It was looking to raise funds to finance technological development and regulatory approval after launching earlier in the year.
Nebeus
In September 2018, Nebeus launched a £1.1m crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.
The cryptocurrency P2P lending platform said it would use the funds to obtain an e-money licence from the City regulator to launch its services to a wider audience.
LandlordInvest
The next month, LandlordInvest launched a £600,000 pre-series A fundraising round on Crowdcube.
The P2P property lending platform aimed to scale up its operations, including hiring staff and refining its broker offering.
Ablrate
Then in January 2020, Ablrate launched a crowdfunding campaign on the platform to raise £350,000.
The asset-backed P2P lender said the funds would be used to help build its blockchain-powered secondary market platform and its broker platform.
Charm Impact
In early November, ethical investment platform Charm Impact raised £273,520 on Seedrs to prepare for its launch into the regulated P2P lending space.
The platform, which provides peer-to-business loans to clean energy entrepreneurs in developing economies, exceeded its initial target of £100,000 by 273 per cent.
Mintos
At the end of November, European P2P lending platform Mintos finished its crowdfunding round, raising €7.2m (£6.4m) from 7,048 investors.
The platform said it would use the funds to secure an investment firm licence so it can operate in other countries and to launch new products such as its own debit card.
JustUs
JustUs’ parent company eMoneyHub has an ongoing campaign on Crowdcube, which has raised over £1.3m so far.
The funds will be used to grow the company and JustUs’s lender base as well as going towards building the JustUs compliance team to launch P2P owner-occupied residential mortgages at the end of the second quarter, subject to a variation of permissions.
