NorthWall builds out CLO platform with Sound Point hire
European alternative credit manager NorthWall Capital has appointed Attila Takacs as co-portfolio manager of its collateralised loan obligation (CLO) platform as it looks to scale up the business.
Takacs will share portfolio management duties with Andrew Lawson, head of capital markets and CLO business, whose hire from Permira was announced in May.
Takacs was previously an associate CLO portfolio manager at Sound Point Capital, where he worked across nine European CLOs with €3.8bn (£3.2bn) of assets under management. He oversaw four CLO pricings there, comprising three new issues and one reset.
“The CLO platform is an important part of NorthWall’s future,” said Fabian Chrobog, the firm’s founder and chief investment officer. “It adds public market insight alongside our European private credit business. Attila has the experience, judgement and drive to help build it.”

“I’ve known Attila for years, having first met him during his time at Sound Point,” said Lawson.
“Since joining, he has been instrumental in building the platform: analysing credits, helping build out our credit selection and monitoring framework, setting up portfolio construction and compliance testing, and building our pipeline with arranging banks and sponsors. We are now ramping the portfolio together as we work towards our first issuance, and I’m excited to partner with him.”
London-based NorthWall, which specialises in private capital solutions for western European counterparties, manages €3.1bn of assets.
