PIMCO names alternatives head as general counsel
PIMCO has appointed its head of alternatives business management, Rick LeBrun, as general counsel, effective from 1 January 2027.
LeBrun has more than 20 years of legal experience across investment management, including private credit, mergers and acquisitions and special situations. He previously served as deputy general counsel for PIMCO’s alternative funds and transactions. LeBrun joined PIMCO in 2005.
He will succeed Sung-Hee Suh, who is set to retire at the end of 2026 after eight years at the firm. Suh will remain in an advisory role during the transition.
Emmanuel Roman, chief executive of PIMCO, said: “Rick brings deep expertise across PIMCO’s alternatives platform, legal and transaction matters, and business management, giving him a strong understanding of the firm’s clients, risk framework, and governance priorities.
“His experience as both Head of Alternatives Business Management and Deputy General Counsel for PIMCO’s alternative funds and transactions makes him exceptionally well-positioned to serve as General Counsel.”
