Barings expands wealth operations with new hire
Global alternatives manager Barings has expanded its operations in the wealth channel by appointing Brian Maute as head of US wealth.
In the newly created role, Maute will lead Barings’ US wealth distribution strategy across all channels, including registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, private banks, family offices and other wealth management platforms.

The manager said his focus will be on broadening adviser and investor access to Barings’ $502bn (£368bn) global investment platform, which includes credit, real assets, capital solutions and emerging markets.
“As demand for alternative investments continues to grow across the wealth channel, Brian’s leadership and deep understanding of the intermediary market will help accelerate our efforts to serve advisors and their clients,” said Ilena Coyle, head of North America insurance and intermediary distribution, who Maute will report to.

Maute joins Barings from DWS, where he spent more than 15 years and was most recently head of US wealth and chief executive officer of DWS Distributors.
