True North hires chief development officer for alternatives platform
True North Advisors, a registered investment advisor (RIA) based in Dallas, has hired Jeff Welday as chief development officer to lead the ongoing development and expansion of its alternatives and private markets platform.
Western Alternatives Strategies is a private markets platform for RIAs and high-net-worth individuals. It currently oversees $1.7bn (around £1.3bn) in assets under management covering private credit, as well as private equity, venture capital and hedge funds.

Welday will focus on expanding the platform’s reach into new distribution channels, with an emphasis on the private wealth segment.
“Jeff is a proven leader with deep expertise in alternative investments and a strong track record in sales and marketing within the private wealth ecosystem,” said Scott Wood, chief executive of True North.
