EIF and BNP Paribas sign €200m SME green investment deal
The European Investment Fund (EIF) and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions have signed a €200m (£168.4m) investment guarantee for SMEs and small mid-caps across France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The firms have agreed to drive investments by SMEs and small mid-caps in projects focused on sustainability and mitigating climate change.

The deal, supported by the InvestEU programme, marks the EIF’s largest multi-country guarantee so far that is designed specifically to support the green energy transition.
It will focus financing support for investments in sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, green technologies and renewable energy projects.

“By joining forces, the EIF and BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions will inject over €200 million in new financing to accelerate innovation and competitiveness among European SMEs across four European countries, and supporting companies in their transition to low-carbon models,” said Marjut Falkstedt, chief executive of EIF.
“This guarantee agreement with BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions fulfils the core mission of both the EIF and the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group: accelerating innovation and competitiveness for European SMEs while promoting sustainable economic development through tailored financial solutions,” added Ambroise Fayolle, vice president of the EIB.
