LBP AM expands private assets team
The asset management subsidiary of La Banque Postale, LBP AM, is growing its private assets platform with two new appointments.
LBP AM, which rebranded its private markets platform last month to LBP AM European Private Markets, has named Karine Gate as head of operations – private assets, and Julie Kong as product structurer – private assets.
Gate has over 30 years’ experience in financial markets, having held roles at Natixis, Sienna IM and Mirova.
From 2022, she worked at Tikehau as head of private debt operations.
Meanwhile, Kong has almost 20 years’ industry experience, starting her career at AXA Investment Management in London. She then worked at BNP Paribas Securities Services from 2008 to 2022, holding the positions of performance and risk product specialist and alternative fund services product manager for Asia Pacific. She joined BNP Paribas Asset Management in 2022 as senior product manager for unlisted assets.
The new appointments come after LBP AM last November unveiled Peter Arnold as head of its European private assets platform.
Arnold was global head of private asset business development at Schroders between June 2019 and January 2024.
“As head of the operations team at LBP AM European Private Markets, Karine will coordinate the growth of our business and the development of unlisted strategies,” said Pierre Bonnet, COO of LBP AM European Private Markets, to whom Gate will report.
Mathilde Sauvé, head of development and products at LBP AM, added: “We are delighted to be welcoming Julie to the private equity structuring team. Her experience will enable us to step up our plans for new products in the unlisted segment for both institutional and retail clients.”
Kong will report to Sauvé and Bonnet.
LBP AM has been making efforts to expand its business in the increasingly popular private markets space, as investors look to private assets for attractive returns and diversification away from public markets.
Last month it launched its first vehicle using the European Long-Term Investment Fund structure, to offer private assets to the wealth market.
