Alvarez & Marsal hires MD to lead debt advisory practice in France and Spain
Alvarez & Marsal has hired Virginie Gasnier to lead its debt advisory practice in France and Spain.
Gasnier, who will be based in Paris, will work closely with the professional services firm’s offices in Geneva, Madrid and Barcelona.
Alvarez & Marsal’s debt advisory team is continuing to expand in these countries, supporting both financial sponsors and corporates with their debt financing requirements.

Gasnier joins A&M from Natixis Partners, where she was a managing director. During her six years at Natixis, she originated and led the execution of debt advisory transactions, with a focus on the mid-market.
Prior to that, she worked in the private debt team at BlackRock and as a managing director in structured finance at BNP Paribas for more than 12 years.
“Virginie brings a wealth of experience in advising a wide range of clients on their financing needs,” said Tim Metzgen, managing director and EMEA head of A&M Debt Advisory.

“Her extensive network will help further expand our client base across Europe and complements our existing EMEA presence, at a time when companies and sponsors require support to navigate the broad range and depth of financing options. Against this backdrop, we have ambitious plans to continue expanding debt advisory in EMEA, where we are uniquely placed to support our client base with the full range of services they need both in region and cross-border and considering the full range of services that A&M can bring to our core relationships.”
Gasnier said: “As the financing markets have become increasingly complex, financial sponsors and companies are seeking the best solutions for their projects, given the variety of financing sources available. Additionally, in an uncertain environment, raising financing through traditional channels has become more challenging. A&M is well positioned to ensure these companies can access the financing they need to continue to grow, having significant reach across EMEA and beyond. It is an exciting time to join A&M, which recently marked its seventh consecutive year of growth in EMEA. The entrepreneurial culture is what attracted me to the firm, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in the continued growth in Europe.”
The new appointment comes after Alvarez & Marsal expanded their UK debt advisory team with two new hires. It appointed Jane Hartley as senior director, and an unnamed “director with an asset-based finance background” who joined in early 2024.
