FCA names innovation panel members
The City regulator has named the founding members of its new innovation panel, which includes several fintech veterans.
The fixed members of the Innovation Advisory Group (IAG) include Phillip Mind, director of digital technology and innovation at UK Finance, and Adam Jackson, director of policy at Innovate Finance.
Jason Boud, co-founder and chief executive of RegTech Associates; Ian Waterworth, director of technology and operations at the association for financial markets in Europe (AFME); and John Allan, head of innovation and operations at The Investment Association round out the fixed panel members.
Meanwhile, seven members have been appointed on a “rotating” basis, and will serve for a minimum of one year alongside the fixed members.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said that the IAG will “provide early input into planned initiatives, bring to the FCA’s attention to key issues or concerns impacting the fintech and regtech sectors, and identify opportunities for continued innovation in financial services, and collaboration between the industry and the regulator.”
“By carrying out these functions, the IAG will help the innovation department achieve its objective of promoting competition in the interest of consumers,” the regulator added.
96 applications were received from industry insiders keen to join the IAG. The panel will meet for the first time in February 2023, and will meet at regular intervals throughout the year.
