Bondora aims for one million active customers
Bondora is plotting product launches and expansions into other countries as it sets its sights on reaching the milestone of one million active customers.
The European peer-to-peer lending platform ended 2021 with 185,000 active customers and more than doubled its originations last year, compared to 2020, to reach €141m (£120m).
In a Q&A with investors, founder and chief executive Pärtel Tomberg said Bondora’s 2021 results, in which the platform achieved its fifth year of profitability, have put the platform on track for its larger ambitions, such as hitting one million active customers.
He said to do this, the P2P lender must launch into new markets and introduce more products, and this will be enabled through the significant cash position the platform has built over the last five years of profitability.

“The next significant milestone is having one million active customers,” Tomberg said in a blog on Bondora’s write-up summarising his Q&A.
“And to achieve that we need to launch new products and new markets. Thanks to our past and current customers who continue choosing us, we’re confident we will achieve our large ambitions.
“We have built a significant cash position over the last five years of profitability, which allows us to make significant investments for the future, such as: expanding into new countries, and launching several new credit products.”
