CapitalRise hires Sancus veteran as head of lending
Property lending platform CapitalRise has made three new appointments including Simon Brown as head of lending.
Brown, who has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, previously worked for Investec Bank as head of private client lending. He then joined Sancus in Guernsey as managing director, before leaving to take a career break.
“Simon’s decades of industry experience, his strong leadership and his knowledge of the property market will be a great asset to us,” said Uma Rajah (pictured), chief executive and co-founder of CapitalRise.
“In recent years, we have significantly expanded the depth and breadth of our funding lines providing us with the ability to serve an even greater number of customers this year and beyond.”

In addition to Brown, the firm has also hired Saif Khichi and Ed Groves as credit analysts. Khichi joins from Habib Bank AG Zurich where he was a credit analyst based in London. Groves joins following a masters in real estate finance at Henley Business School.
Rajah added: “We have further plans to grow the team as we continue to expand our lending remit — in addition to our core focus on prime central London, we are continuing to grow our loan book across prime outer London and the prime Home Counties, with our senior and mezzanine loan products that span the full development lifecycle.”
Last year, the business made six new appointments bolstering its lending and investment teams. Within the lending team, Lee Francis was hired as lending director to originate, structure and execute transactions.
