ThinCats appoints in-house solicitor
THINCATS has named Stephanie Elgie as its new in-house solicitor.
The peer-to-peer business lender said on Friday that it has hired Elgie to advise the business development team and help craft tailored contracts for clients, as well as providing the legal framework for ThinCats deals.
After qualifying in 2017, Elgie specialised in banking and finance at Wright Hassall LLP in the West Midlands where she acted for a range of small- and medium-sized enterprises, both lenders and borrowers, from start to deal completion.
She will be based at ThinCats’s headquarters in Ashby de la Zouch.

“Before deciding to move to ThinCats, I worked closely with their team on one of their legal panels,” Elgie said.
“Through this, I got to know the people and the business, so I knew this would be a perfect move. I am excited to work more closely with the business development team, bringing my specialist knowledge to bear on the wide variety of deals.”
Samantha Gray, general counsel for ThinCats, said Elgie will “work across the business helping the various business development teams secure deal completion for our clients.”

It follows the appointment of Amany Attia as chief executive of ThinCats, taking over from John Mould who had been in the position for four years.
Attia will oversee the next phase of expansion for the firm, which will include the launch of new products, the development of new technology and growth in its lending capital.
